Flight from Yogyakarta to Bali is around s £30-40 including luggage. Takes 1 hour 20. If we want, we may be able to skip Jakarta and fly straight out to Bali from Kota Kinabalu for roughly around £80/90 but the flight will be longer? But there’s no point because that’ll be ages in Bali.

Flight out from Kota Kinablu is difficult. They are all layovers. Shortest flight is 6 hours to Indonesia. Air Asia currently doing it for £50.

Flight via Air Asia, £15 (50 mins). This is just a quick flight across Sabah to go to the other attractions in Borneo. Perhaps look for an alternative coach? Drive is 5 hours long though. We would go back to Kota Kinablu from here.

There is a ferry + coach service which departs from Koh Tao, Samui and Phangan which takes around 7-10 hours @ £30-40. Long journey and only available from AM!

Ferry to Koh Tao is 1hr 30mins and £15. This could potentially be skipped if we are strapped for time or want to spend more time in Phuket/Phi Phi/Koh Samui. We could either go from Koh Phangan to Phi Phi directly or back to Samui to spend more time and then to Phi Phi from there?

Speed Ferry from Koh Samui is 30 minutes and £8. Full moon party is 7th Jan. Note - the last ferry to Koh Phangan is at 18:30. The next ferry back to Samui is at 07:00. Perhaps we should look at staying only for one night here on this island? We could then go back to Samui to see more of it etc. Otherwise two nights would suffice here. Good place to stay is Phangan Arena as far away from the Beach + Safer. Entry fee to Full Moon is 100B, Taxis to and from all night.

Use the return flight to Bangkok from Chiang Mai (£50, AirAsia / Nok Air @ 1hr 15 mins) booked on the 2nd of Jan. Then a flight from Bangkok to Koh Samui Airport (£136, Royal Thai @ 1hr 10mins). Alternatively, from Bangkok: Flight to NST (Nakhon Si Thamarat) for £28 via Nok Air and then Ferry onto Koh Samui £16 (total 1hr 10mins + 5hr)?

Early morning flight or an evening flight on 1st of Jan. Book a return for 5th. Flight is around £50 (1hr 15mins). Note that Nok Air is cheaper and has cheaper luggage opinions which will be better for us. Alternatively, we could get a night bus there which saves on a nights accommodation and is around 25£! (10-14 hours).
